New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) November 11, 2009
Zlago’s Vice President of Channels, John Rice, will present the November 12, 2009 keynote educational address at the CompTIA IT Services and Support Group meeting being held in New Orleans. The session, “Service Business Opportunities – Partnering with Cloud Computing Companies,” will address why, according to a recent Gartner report, “the worldwide hosted virtual desktop (HVD) market … will grow from (approx.) .5 billion in 2009, to .7 billion in 2013,” and how VARs and Solution Providers can take advantage of Hosted Desktops and Cloud Services to deliver value to their clients.
Said Richard Rysiewicz, CompTIA VP of Industry Relations, “The buzz around hosted desktops and cloud computing continues to grow. There’s no doubt this appears to be a real opportunity for VARs and solution providers. We are very grateful to have someone as well respected within the industry as John Rice of Zlago to help our members better understand this space, and the affect that smart integration can have on its success for their businesses.”
John Rice is a channel sales and marketing executive with over 25 years experience in distribution, technology sales, and channel management. Previously, while Director of Channel Sales and Marketing at Intelligent Electronics, he founded and built Business Technology Centers (now the Ingram VentureTech Network) — the first SMB VAR community in the industry. He built the channel from its first reseller to over 250 active VARS purchasing over 750 million dollars in computer products annually. In 2003, Ingram Micro recognized Mr. Rice for his achievements by inducting him into the Ingram Micro VentureTech Hall of Fame. Mr. Rice has also held executive positions with MicroAge, Honeywell, and Gateway, and he ran Business Systems Management, a VAR business focusing on the SMB market.
CompTIA is the non-profit trade association advancing the global interests of information technology (IT) professionals and companies including manufacturers, distributors, resellers, and educational institutions. The CompTIA IT Services and Support Group provides a formal structure and method for IT service executives to meet, network, and establish standards for the IT Services and Support industry. Members work together on current business needs while advancing the vision of the technology community through key initiatives.
Said Mr. Rice, “It is an honor to speak with my colleagues at CompTIA. Hosted Desktops and Cloud services represent one of, if not the biggest opportunities for the Channel, and it will be important for VARs and Solution Providers to make good decisions as they enter this space. If integrated properly, this high-value model will provide a cost-effective solution for both the VAR and their business customers. It is a recurring revenue model that delivers low-touch, high-service levels that result in long-term customer satisfaction and retention.”
In addition to Hosted Desktops, the VARs can offer cloud services including Exchange email, collaboration, business applications, virtual servers, VOIP phone service, security, backup, storage and more. No matter where users are, as long as they have access to the Internet, they have access to their desktop, their operations and accounting software and files, customer files, CRM and other client/server based applications, e-mail, shared network folders and files and more. Gone are the days of allocating costly capital to servers, software, hardware, upgrades, telephony systems, and maintenance, not to mention the sleepless nights associated with worrying about IT infrastructure uptime.
