Question by Vahagn A: What components would I need to build my own desktop computer?
Say I wanted to make my own from scratch. Can you tell me what parts I would need to make a functional computer? For one thing, I know I would need a mid tower computer case.

Computer Case
Power supply
Motherboard
CPU compatible with motherboard
Memory (RAM) compatible with motherboard
Hard drive
CD/DVD drive
Operating system (windows/linux, etc.)
If you want to save money, at the expense of performance, get a motherboard with integrated video, integrated audio, and integrated network (RJ-45) connectivity.
After that, you’ll need a CD/DVD drive to use to install software and the operating system of your choice.
These are the bare minimums and assume that you have a keyboard and mouse lying around along with an old monitor. If you don’t have these things, then you’ll need to add them to the list.
Go to a site like newegg.com or tigerdirect.com and go to their bare-bone/kit area. This will give you an idea of some of the various configurations out there and let you see the price ranges and the options.
