Connected devices such as connected TV, media players, and photo frames are getting more and more popular. However, today, you can’t easily interact with those devices from arbitrary web applications using a web browser, for example, you can’t easily deliver an Internet video to your TV from a web application. This is due to a lack of a service enabler that intermediates connected devices and web applications. Web Device Connectivity API is aimed at easing development of web applications that enable such new web experiences. If you have a web site, Web Device Connectivity API allows visitors of your web site to see what devices they have in their home and enables them to access those devices by using your web application.
