Remote desktop control using RS232 possible?

Question by jchsu: Remote desktop control using RS232 possible?
Basically, I want to know if there are any programs that allow remote desktop control using an RS232 (serial port) connection. Things like Timbuktu and Crossloop are great, but I’m looking for something can control my desktop that doesn’t require any kind of internet connection. Thanks.
Because the distance between the two needs to be about 1000 feet, and ethernet cannot reach that long.

Yes, I believe PC Anywhere and Laplink supports RS232 connections. But may I ask why?

Why can’t you use Ethernet?

Your RS232 (serial port) is going to be SLOWWWWW.
