New Anthracite 1.4 Release Gives Mac Intel Users SOAP and XPath Power

Boulder, CO (PRWEB) February 9, 2006

Metafy LLC announces the latest Anthracite Web Mining Desktop toolkit software release — version 1.4 — with important new capabilities including SOAP and XPath support, available now for Apple’s new Intel-based Macintoshes.

“We’re grateful to be able to build on nearly two years of experience with customers to deliver new functionality that improves the ease and productivity of the software,” said Joe Pezzillo, Founder of Metafy.

Included in the new release:

SOAP Sources – use web services data as a source, fully AppleScriptable.

Conditional Loading – A frequently requested feature, “Load if Changed” only loads data if different from last time. When automated, this keeps data from web pages and RSS feeds current. Source – use this popular social web command line tool to bring data into Anthracite

XPath – apply this powerful tagged data extraction language to any text, especially useful when combined with XML SOAP results

PDF – Anthracite now extracts text from PDF files using of MacOSX’s built in capabilities.

Universal Binary – Updated for Apple’s new Intel machines, still works great on PowerPC. Tested 4.5X faster than 1.67Ghz PowerBookG4 loading 60MB input, parsing 3500 tables, and writing 120MB of results.

Additional improvements include a log file, configurable default string encoding, new sample documents (more than 60 examples included) and a dozen bug fixes.

Anthracite Web Mining Desktop software requires MacOS X 10.4 (Tiger). A two-week free trial is available by downloading the software. Single user licenses are still only US.00 and can be purchased online.
