Question by I’ve been called lots.: My Compaq Desktop computer is making a beeping sound…I understand this is a diagnostic noise how do I fix it?
I had to install a new mouse, because the old one stopped working. I had to do a manual shut down after installing it because the mouse wouldn’t work. Now when I try and turn on the computer, it makes a beeping sound, and nothing is working….Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this?

Indeed what you are hearing is a diagnostic noise known in the industry as a beep code. These codes are specific to each company that makes the BIOS (This is the program that handles the booting of your computer, the main makes are Abit, Acer, American Megatrends, Amstrad, Award, ASUS that type of thing) all you have to do is find out who makes your BIOS program and look on their website and see what the beep relates to. It will be discribed as short beep short beep long beep for example, similar to morse code. I personally think that it wouldnt beep for a problem with the mouse, if it has to beep it usually means that a main component part has gone wrong.
