How to enable file & printer sharing from host Windows 98 desktop via wireless router to Vista laptop?

Question by raymhill: How to enable file & printer sharing from host Windows 98 desktop via wireless router to Vista laptop?
Printers are wired to host Windows 98 desktop which is wired to Netgear wireless router; Vista laptop finds router (and both computers successfully use the router for internet access), but can’t “see” the Windows 98 desktop or the printers wired to it. I have enabled file sharing on the Windows 98 desktop, added the router’s IP address as trusted in my Norton Symantec firewall (and have also tried it with firewall disabled).

98 really wasn’t designed for any of that. Get XP.

TIP: You don’t need Norton either, you have a router.
