Question by toni s: How do I write a testing plan about web base application? please explane?
Answer by FabMom
It is a long process. Think of every task your application is supposed to do and write out each step involved in accomplishing that task. Try different data types, different size files if applicable, anything you can think of. Next think of as many ways as you can that a user could screw up each task and write each step down (this is the hard part, you’ll never think of everything) – here you are testing to make sure that the program gives the appropriate error messages and does not lock up or crash. Each one of these step-by-step procedures is one test. Make several copies of each test. You will want to test each one on every OS that might be used. For each OS, you will want to run each test on all browsers available to that OS. Don’t hate me for this answer – it is a huge endeavor. I interned in software testing in college, and though I do not think I would ever want to do it again, I recognize that this is the most important part of the software development cycle and should never be shortchanged.
