Question by kirp1968: During a storm yesterday my house lost power. Lenovo desktop now tries to load Windows XP, but shuts down.?
It didn’t suffer a lightning strike and has full power. It does everything normal and shows the Windows XP screen for a few seconds like it’s fine, then it shuts down and restarts. This cycle goes on and on. I’ve tried safe mode, but it won’t load there either. I was able to see one error: “baserwcuv32 not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem.” I have the Windows XP disk, but how can I reinstall it? Please help. I’m using my laptop to monitor answers. Thank you.

Windows probubly got hosed when the power glitched…boot from the cd, select repair, and at the command prompt, type: chkdsk /r (…..note the space after the K)..this will attempt a repair of windows. If this fails , reboot again, and type: fixboot .This will replace the boot files. Goodluck.
