I will be using it for gaming and also a lot of researching. Also adding some pictures and maybe downloading little videos on it. The hard drive does not have to be big so 750gb is plenty. But the computer has to be fast and reliable and in general good on its features ! So whats the best package out of these ?

ugh. okay so i had to do pc recovery over again, cause i was trying to download Windows XP Service Package 2 because I’m getting a Wacom Bamboo Fun for Christmas and I saw that as a requirement it needed XP to have service package 2. So I went and downloaded it off from the Official Microsoft website and after that my computer restarted and my computer wouldn’t start back up to the desktop. so i had to face the music and do the pc recovery. now i did lose my 13 pages of LOUD magazine. which sucks. But after the recovery I got my PHOTON magazine pages back. Now I’m not sure what to do. I’m not canceling LOUD that’s for sure because I can re-do it but now that I have 34 pages of PHOTON magazine, should I at least finish it? I’m not sure.

Question by Jennifer: Does anyone know how much it would cost to ship a desktop computer from New Zealand to Canada?
I’m moving and short of money, otherwise I’d just buy a laptop. But not having a spare $ 2k sitting around, we figured it would be cheaper to mail the desk top. It’s a standard one – one tower and keyboard with a flat screen, and would be packaged in two boxes, like it was shipped to us originally.

Best answer:

Answer by Roger K
Weight, distance and shipping method are the main factors that determine cost. We don’t know any of those.

You should weight all of the components, as they would be packed – as well as you can.
Then call some companies that do international shipping from NZ.

With the information about those weights and a destination in Canada, they are in the best position to provide an estimate for different methods of shipping, and a transit time.

Good luck.

Question by anonymous: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 dual-core processor 4200+ vs. Intel® Core™2 Duo desktop processor E4400?
i’m looking at two desktop computer packages.
1. Hewlett-Packard – Pavilion 4200+ Desktop a6000n
AMD LIVE! Smarter Digital Entertainment; AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 dual-core processor 4200+; 1GB DDR2 SDRAM; DL DVD±RW/CD-RW drive; LightScribe labeling; 250GB hard drive; Windows Vista Home Premium
$ 500

2)Hewlett-Packard – Pavilion E4400 Desktop a6120n
Intel® Core™2 Duo desktop processor E4400; Intel® Viiv™ technology; 2GB DDR2 SDRAM; DL DVD±RW/CD-RW drive; LightScribe technology; 320GB hard drive; Windows Vista Home Premium
$ 760

Both come with 17 inch flat panel monitor and all in one hp printer.
Of course, i know one has more ram and hard drive than the other.
My main question is about the processors. I’ve been told that the athlon dual core is the best out there right now, but i don’t know too much about that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer by Mathew G
You were given incorrect information. The Core 2 Duos are the top dogs out at the moment. Comparing those to processors though, they’re pretty much on par at stock speeds. HOWEVER. If you get into overclocking, the E4400 will SLAUGHTER the 4200. You’re easily looking at 2.8-3ghz on air. That’s a lot of headroom to work with and in my opinion is definitely worth the extra $ 260, considering you get even more ram, a better version of Vista, and a bit more HDD space.

Both are good systems, but I’d go with the HP on this one since you’ll get more bang for your buck.
