Can I remote control a Windows desktop from a laptop and still see what’s happening on the desktop monitor?

Question by Anthony Sapien: Can I remote control a Windows desktop from a laptop and still see what’s happening on the desktop monitor?
When I Remote Desktop from my laptop, the desktop monitor switches to a Sign-in screen stating that it’s being controlled remotely. My real goal is to be able to sit on my couch and use a laptop to control a desktop hooked up to my TV and see what’s happening on both screens.

most remote desktop software tools have an option to “hide” the remote desktop from prying eyes – check in options

I use logmein to control a vista media center pc on my tv using a laptop

you can also use Live Mesh to sync your various pcs and connect remotely to them either via the live mesh notifier in the system tray or via internet explorer – both work excellently – worth a look
